BRISTOL, RI – Officials closed both sides of the Mt. Hope Bridge in Bristol on Wednesday morning following a two-vehicle collision.
The incident happened around 6 a.m. on the bridge connecting Bristol with Portsmouth.
The cause and circumstances of the accident are still under investigation. Photos taken at the scene indicate that the crash likely involved a dark-colored Jeep and a white passenger vehicle. The white vehicle sustained substantial front-end damage.
It’s not yet clear if anyone was hurt in the collision.
All lanes of the bridge re-opened by around 7:15 a.m.
The investigation is ongoing.
