SMITHFIELD, RI – Crews worked to clear a sewage spill that occurred when a sewage truck overturned along the highway in Smithfield on Wednesday.
The incident happened just after noon in the area of Putnam Pike and Route 5, or Sanderson Road.
Police say the truck rolled and spilled sewage after attempting to turn on Sanderson Road.
No injuries have been reported in connection to the event thus far.
Officials closed that area of Putnam Pike for around two hours during the clean up.
A full investigation is underway.
