Narrative
JOHNSTON, RI – A Rhode Island police officer sustained injuries Tuesday in a rear-end collision on Route 6 in Johnston.
The incident happened around 3:10 p.m. near the on-ramp for Hartford Avenue, which is near the junction with I-295.
Police say that the 24-year-old female driver of a Honda Accord lost control of her vehicle on the icy roadway and rear-ended a police cruiser.
Medics transported the police officer to the hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Honda, identified as Eneye Ayeni, received a citation for failure to reduce speed and move over.
A full investigation is underway.
