NEWPORT, RI – A man died late Tuesday night when his moped collided with the curb on a rotary in Newport, reports The Newport Daily News.
Police say the incident happened around 11:30 p.m. at the rotary located in the intersection of Admiral Kalbfus Road and JT Connell Highway. The body of the man wasn’t discovered until early Wednesday morning, at which point law enforcement officials reviewed video footage to piece together the circumstances of the crash.
Authorities believe the 28-year-old victim collided with the rotary because he fail to notice the new curbing. The force of the collision with the curb threw the victim from his moped and into the middle of the rotary where he died.
Officials have not yet released the identify of the driver.
